Holly Magill

Goodnight

The News at ten crowds my room with children;
they don’t flicker like children should.

I thumb the set dark, a moment’s static fizz,
swipe Hobnob crumbs from my onesie,
set the remote in its place,

pad to the kitchen, rinse my tea mug,
check the locks are secure,

because I have a door.
